After serving for over 20 years, Dr. Ahmed retired from MCC and remained as chairman Emeritus of MCC for Human Services. In September 2023, the Executive Director resigned with 2 weeks’ notice. MCC did not have any funds to operate, and the government grant was declined. The board faced a serious situation of whether to continue the programs and projects of MCC or close after 25 years of operation.

The board decided to keep the MCC doors open and was willing to help as much as they could to keep the operation going as long as Dr. Ahmed temporarily resumes the position of Executive Director until the next Executive Director is hired. Dr. Ahmed accepted the responsibility, moved by the enthusiastic support of the entire board to continue MCC’s programs.
